A Hole, and the Mystery of the Flying Pig

Two Texas rednecks were out exploring their ranch when they stumbled upon a massive hole in the ground. They marveled at its depth.

The first redneck exclaimed, “Well, ain’t that a sight! I can’t even see the bottom. I wonder how deep it goes.”

The second redneck, scratching his head, suggested, “I reckon we oughta throw something down there and see how long it takes to hit the bottom.”

The first redneck spotted an old tractor tire nearby and said, “Yup, that tire over yonder should do the trick. Help me roll it over here.”

They rolled the tire to the edge of the hole, counted, “One, two, three,” and gave it a good shove.

As they leaned over, trying to catch the sound of the tire hitting bottom, they heard a sudden rustling behind them. Turning around, they witnessed a pig tearing through the brush, sprinting towards the hole, and without a moment’s hesitation, leaping in headfirst.

Stunned, the rednecks exchanged puzzled glances. Just then, an old rancher ambled over, chewing on a piece of straw. “Howdy, boys,” he drawled.

“Y’all didn’t happen to see my pig around here, did ya?”

The first redneck scratched his head and replied, “Well, now that you mention it, we were standing right here, and outta nowhere, your pig zoomed out of them bushes like a bat outta hell and dove headfirst into this here hole!”

The old rancher chuckled, “Well, that’s mighty peculiar. I had him tied to that old tractor tire.”
