Three friends, Jack, Mike, and Tom, inherited 18 magical apples from their eccentric uncle. However, their uncle’s will had some peculiar instructions:
- Jack should get 1/2 (half) of the total apples.
- Mike should be given 1/3rd (one-third) of the total apples.
- Tom should be given 1/9th (one-ninth) of the total apples.
Perplexed by the strange distribution, the three friends couldn’t agree on how to divide the apples. In a heated argument, they decided to seek the advice of a wise old wizard who lived nearby.
The wizard listened to their dilemma and, after a moment of contemplation, handed them one of his own magical apples, adding it to the 18 they already had. Now, with 19 magical apples, the wizard declared, “Now you can follow your uncle’s instructions.”
The friends, amazed by the wizard’s solution, followed the will’s instructions:
- Jack happily took 1/2 of the 19 apples.
- Mike joyfully received 1/3 of the 19 apples.
- Tom gratefully got 1/9 of the 19 apples.
And there was still one magical apple left, which the wizard took back with a wink, leaving the friends in awe of his wisdom.
I hope this brings a smile to your face!
