A CBS journalist heard about an elderly Irish man who had been faithfully praying at the Western Wall for decades. Intrigued by his dedication, she decided to investigate and find out more about his story.
She made her way to the Western Wall and spotted an elderly gentleman, slowly making his way up to the holy site. After observing him in prayer for almost an hour, she approached him for an interview.
“Excuse me, sir, I’m Kathleen O’Malley from CBS. May I ask your name?”
The man smiled and replied, “Patrick O’Sullivan.”
“Mr. O’Sullivan, can you tell me how long you’ve been coming here to pray?”
Patrick chuckled, “Oh, it must be close to 70 years now.”
“70 years, that’s remarkable! What brings you here every day?”
“I come here to pray for a world full of laughter and joy,” Patrick said. “I pray for everyone to appreciate the beauty of life, to find humor in the darkest moments, and for a day when we can all share a good laugh together.”
Impressed, the journalist asked, “How has this daily ritual made you feel over the years?”
Patrick grinned and replied, “Well, let me put it this way: talking to this wall feels like having a lively chat with a room full of friends compared to dealing with politicians!”
