The Bug Buster

One day, Johnny was asked to fix a computer.

He brought his tools and started working on the computer, as the owner requested.

While fixing it, he noticed a small bug in the system and quietly removed it. When he finished the repair, he received his payment and left.

The next day, the computer owner came to Johnny and handed him a generous check, much higher than the payment for fixing the computer. Johnny was surprised and said, “But you’ve already paid me for fixing the computer!”

“This is not for the computer fix. It’s for getting rid of that annoying bug in the system.”

“But it was just a small service… certainly not worth such a high amount for something so insignificant.”

“My dear friend, you don’t understand. Let me tell you what happened. After you fixed the computer, I used it to do some important work. I didn’t realize there was a bug. Later, when I checked the results, I found that you had removed the bug! You see, now, what you did? You saved my important project! I don’t have enough money to pay for your ‘small’ good deed.”

Moral of the Story: No matter who, when, or how—just continue to help, support, troubleshoot, and carefully debug all the ‘glitches’ you find.

Because you never know when someone is in need of us or when life holds a pleasant surprise for us to be helpful and significant to someone.

You may have debugged numerous ‘computer issues’ along the way, without realizing how many projects you’ve saved. So, keep the good work going.
